Registration Instructions for the Fall Season

Hillsborough AYSO is open to everyone, all schools, all towns. We have limited field space so register early because  it's likely some divisions will be oversubscribed. If this happens, children of volunteer coaches and referees will be given priority when teams are formed. The Fall AYSO season is open to anyone at least 4 years of age on August 1st of this year and no more than 18 year of age on August 1st of this year.

For 2016 the age cutoff is August 1st, the same as it has been in previously.  There will be a change to the age cutoff policy, but not until 2017.

Follow these steps to register your players:

Go to www.eayso.org and follow the instructions to register your player.  (We recommend Internet Explorer.  There have been reports of problems with Chrome and Safari.) Hillsborough is “Region 110”.  If you have registered in prior years, be sure to update your email address, health insurance, medical and emergency contact information.

If you are registering for the first time, you will need the following information:
1 • Player name, address, phone number, gender, birth date.
2 • Your child's school and grade THIS FALL (not now).
3 • A primary email address we can use for communication.
4 • Emergency contact info, doctor name and phone, and insurance carrier.
5 • Parent/guardian names and phone numbers.

Be sure to follow the "check the box" instructions for completing the application form with an electronic signature.

Complete payment with a credit card. You will receive confirmation of your registration via email within two days.

The fee for walk-in registration is $150 (only available until May 7.) The fee for online registration is $210 prior to May 15th; after that the fee is $260. Online registrations must pay by credit card.

Hillsborough Employees. The registration fee for children of Hillsborough employees is $100.

VIP Fees. The registration fee for VIP (special needs) is $50.

No Buddy Requests. Because team balance is a core AYSO principle, we do not accept buddy requests (i.e., requests for friends to play on the same team).

Waitlists. All registrations are accepted subject to team availability.  Once a division is fully subscribed, additional applications will be placed on a waitlist.  Applications that do not clear the waitlist will be refunded.

Refunds. No refunds for player withdrawals will be given after July 10th.  Requests for refunds should be directed to registrar@hillsboroughayso.org.

Requests for players to play in a higher (older) division or to play down in a lower (younger) division must be submitted to commissioner@hillsboroughayso.org.  These requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Please Email this request and include justification along with the child's height, weight, relative speed and aggressiveness compared to his or her peers.  Play-Up / Play-Down requests will be considered only if space is available in the requested age division.

AYSO has been promoting the recommendations provided by the U.S. Center for Disease Control's Heads Up program for concussion awareness and safety.  Parents are encouraged to learn the signs and symptoms of concussion and the associated risks.  For more information, you can read AYSO's Parent/Athlete Concussion Information Sheet.

Injured Players

If a player is injured and unable to play, the coach may request that a replacement player be assigned to the team from the division waitlist (if any). If a replacement player is assigned to the team, the injured player will be moved to an injured player pool. If the injured player wishes to return to the division, he or she will be assigned to a team based on space availability and team balance considerations. There is no guarantee that the injured player will be assigned to his or her original team.

Problems Registering?

Online registration requires use of Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox (use of Safari creates printing problems). If you receive an error message when trying to request your password or if you no longer have access to the email you used to create your login, please send an email to eAYSOsupport@ayso.org to have your password reset. If you have a new email address (different from the one you previously registered with on eAYSO), please be sure and list the email address that needs to be reset. If you get a message that your email address is already in use it means that someone in your family created a login at one time. If you don't know the password, then send an email to eAYSOsupport@ayso.org.

Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to most of your registration related questions can likely be found below. If you have general questions, feel free to contact us.

Q: What if I do not have Internet access to register online?

A:   You can come to our walk-in registration days, as shown at the top of the page.

Q: What if I don't have an account?

A:   You can create your account at www.eayso.org. If aren't sure if you have an account, the system offers a lookup to see if it has a record of you. Please do not create a new account if you can't remember your user name or password. That will result in confusion with your child's records and delay registration.  If unable to access an account you created in prior years, please contact info@HillsboroughAYSO.org.

Q: What are the costs?

A:   Your costs are limited to our registration fees.  Incidental costs during the season may include your portion of a team banner, providing snack for one game and coach and referee appreciation gifts for the time they have put in volunteering for the team.

Q: Are scholarships available?

A:   Yes. Please contact the Registrar at registrar@HillsboroughAYSO.org and make your request. Verification of need will be asked for.

Q: Can I pay electronically?

A:   Yes!

Q: When do we sign the medical release and code of conduct forms?

A:   The medical release forms are signed as part of the registration forms that are filled out online during the online registration process.  The coaches are responsible for signing the code of conduct forms as part of their Coach Certification training.

Q: Can I choose the practice field?

A:   No, we do not know the practice fields selected by the coaches until after all the teams have been assigned.

Q: Can I request a particular coach?

A:   No, you cannot request a particular coach.  However, each coach can request one assistant coach and therefore the children of the coach and assistant will naturally be together on the same team.

Q: Can I request to play with a friend?

A:  No, requests for placements on teams will not be granted.  Exceptions will be made for siblings, coaches and assistant coaches.

Q: Can I request that two siblings in the same age group play together?

A:  Yes, they can be assigned to the same team by specifying the name of the player's sibling during online registration in the "siblings playing on the same team" field.  While we will try and honor requests for siblings to play together, factors may exist that prevent this, in which case we may only be able to offer spaces on different teams.

Q: As a head coach, can I pick my assistant coach?

A: Yes. When you register, indicate you want to be a Head Coach. Your assistant needs to register as an Assistant Coach. This summer, you will be contacted by your division coordinator who will ask you if you have a specific assistant. As a head coach, you are allowed to pick the assistant coach – the assistant cannot pick the head coach.  If team balance is impacted negatively by two particular coaches pairing up, they will be asked to spit up.

Q: Can I request to play-up a division?

A: Only with permission from the Regional Commissioner. Please read our Division Placement Guidelines above for more information.

Q: Can I request to play-down a division?

A: Only with permission from the Regional Commissioner. Please read our Division Placement Guidelines above for more information.

Q: I can't remember my username or password.

A: If you do not remember your account name or password for this site, Click here for help. This will ask for your first name, last name and phone number and allow you to reset your password.

If you need help accessing eayso.org, call 866.588.2976.

Q: How do I withdraw if I won't be able to play?

A: We provide for full refunds prior to July 10th by sending an email to HillsboroughAYSO@gmail.com. After July 10th, our policy is to not provide refunds in order to minimize players dropping out after team formation has been completed.

Q: What do I do if I'm having trouble registering online?

A: If you are having trouble registering online, please contact the support center at eAYSO before entering your child again - multiple entries for one child can lead to confusion in team placement.

Disciplinary Matters

Players are expected to demonstrate good behavior and respect for other players, coaches and referees at all times.  This includes practices.  Disruptive or disrespectful behavior may result in exclusion from future practices and/or games with the approval of the Regional Commissioner. At games, a player who is ejected from the game must leave the field of play.  The team may not substitute for that player for the remainder of the game. If there is no parent present at the game to accompany the ejected team member, he/she will remain silent on the sideline under the care of the team’s coaches and may not participate in the hand shake at the end of the game. A player that is ejected before, during or after a game, will be ineligible to participate in the team’s next scheduled game and any team practices prior to that next scheduled game. Depending on the severity of the action that resulted in the ejection, the Commissioner at his/her discretion may review the circumstances and issue greater sanctions against the offending player. Any player receiving two ejections during the season shall have the infractions reviewed by the Regional Board and may be denied further participation. A player’s continued involvement in the program is also subject to review for receiving frequent or repeated warnings by referees, which did not result in an ejection from a game but which were of such nature to warrant reporting in the match report, at the discretion of the Regional Commissioner.

A coach who is ejected by the referee must leave the field of play and the immediate area (i.e. must not be within visibility or sound of the players or referees) for the remainder of the current game and, at a minimum, will be suspended for the next scheduled game and all practices prior to that next scheduled game. Depending on the severity of the action that resulted in the ejection, the Commissioner may review the circumstances and issue greater sanctions against the offending coach. Player Registration Forms must be in the possession of the remaining registered coach. If the coach refuses to leave, or there is no remaining coach or assistant coach to supervise the players, the referee will abandon the match. In an instance where the game is abandoned, the Commissioner will decide the outcome of the game. Any coach ejected from more than one game during the season will be immediately suspended for the balance of the season and his/her actions will be reviewed by the Regional Board to determine any additional sanctions.

A coach that is criticized in a referee match report for a clear failure to observe either positive coaching or good sportsmanship will receive a verbal warning from the Commissioner and be asked to correct their actions. A reported repetition of their behavior, described in a referee report at a subsequent game, will result in a minimum suspension of one game and, based upon the severity of the actions, the Regional Board, may decide to impose additional sanctions.

A spectator or other guest who is asked to leave the field area by the referee must do so immediately (i.e. must not be within visibility or sound of the players or referees for the remainder of the game). If a spectator or guest refuses to leave the field, the referee may abandon the match, in which case, the Commissioner will be responsible for determining the outcome of the match.
